Amazon Day & Ornamental | Jewellery and awareness about the environment

Celebrated most of all in Brazil, Amazon Day was established in 1850 to mark the creation of the Province of Amazonas, in the north of the country. The date generates awareness of the rainforest’s protection and preservation.

With its vast area of 6.7 million square kilometres, five million of which are covered by forest, the Amazon today is one of humanity’s most precious natural heritages. Spread out over 60% of Brazil’s total land surface, the rainforest also extends to Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela and French Guyana.

An estimated 33 million people inhabit the Amazon basin, including many indigenous people that resisted the extermination perpetrated since the colonization. Also, the region is the target of constant exploration, fires and deforestation, and urges for protection.

To make you feel more connected to such an important part of our global ecosystem, our Namata Collection celebrates the Amazon heritage. By using natural resources and being inspired by local techniques for the use of the materials, the products featured by Ornamental are eco-friendly, handmade and offer an unique touch to your style.

Check out some inspiration for your jewellery collection:

Offset with a white mother of pearl drop, these handmade gold plated earrings feature Amazon region locally found Buriti straws detail and are finished with stud backs. Mother of pearl is a relieving stone, stimulates our intuition, imagination, sensitivity and adaptability. It is known to help our emotions become more harmonious and balanced.

Adorned with semi-precious Turquoise, set in multiple Amazon region locally found Buriti straws with mini gold-plated beads, this handmade bracelet is the perfect way to update your jewellery collection. Turquoise is a calming stone that can induce internal serenity, that not only will help to flush negative emotions from the mind but also support detoxification of the body.

Featured on a triple row, this handmade necklace gives the layering trend a golden touch. A trio of multiple Buriti straws is presented in different shapes of gold plated textured metal charms, that will give your neckline a bold touch. Also called the "tree of life", Buriti is a native palm that can be found in the northern region of South America, particularly within the Amazon region.

Unique designs, natural and eco-friendly materials are waiting to connect yourself to the world’s most imponent rainforest. Celebrate Amazon Day with our Namata Collection and explore creative ways to style your outfit!
